Meet New Board Member Peggy Leff
Published on 9/27/2026
Peggy spent 30+ years in public education, primarily as a teacher of students with special needs and believes civic education is intrinsic in service to others. For her, this has meant volunteering in faith-based, community service, and social justice endeavors.
Once retired, Peggy accepted the challenge to develop artistic expression through dance. Practice, practice, practice provided her opportunities to develop skills and connect with people and culture that have cemented her love of San Antonio. She began volunteering with LWVSA registering new citizens to vote at Naturalization ceremonies. Through this she was serving others and also honoring her grandmother and the memory of her studying to become a citizen.
Peggy says "I am awed by the wealth of resources, tremendously talented volunteers, and means for civic engagement the League of Women Voters has. When asked to serve on the board, I thought what organizational skills I had, along with a willingness to tackle new, would allow me to be of service to LWVSA."
