League Shines Spotlight on Tina Reck-Guerra
Tina Reck-Guerra, Youth Contest Committee Chair | Published on 9/20/2025
Most people I know would say that I am a strong, independent, caring, and compassionate woman who is loyal to her family, friends, and dogs. I come from a close-knit military family. I have been married to my husband, Michael, since 2013. We have 4 grandchildren and 3 dogs.
In 2022, I retired after 31 years in education where I taught young children for 10 years and was a school administrator and principal for 21. As a teacher and principal, I made sure that we engaged young children in opportunities for civic engagement and that they understood their role as a voter. We had a variety of opportunities to vote, whether it was for a class mascot, an activity we would do, an organization we would support, or a mock local, state or national election.
When I was asked if I was interested in leading the League’s Youth contest 3 years ago, I knew this was a volunteer opportunity that aligned with my passion for engaging in our community and serving others. The youth initiative and contest is all about encouraging high school and college students to engage in our democracy and to understand the importance of voting in all elections. The young women and men I have met while leading the Youth Contest inspire me and give me hope for a strong democracy for years to come.
