Artocracy, A Docent-Led Tour at SAMA
Jill Torbert | Published on 9/13/2025
On Tuesday, October 21, at 5:30 p.m., join League members Carrie Klein and Jill Torbert for Artocracy, a docent-led tour at San Antonio Museum of Art. At its heart, democracy is about having a voice. But who has a voice? And what does it mean to use that voice? From formerly enslaved people in ancient Rome to Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siquieros to contemporary artist Kehinde Wiley's David Lyon, pictured to the left, we'll look at ways people in different places and times have used art to take up space, claim their voice, and make themselves heard.
This tour is an Off the Wall tour offered by SAMA every Tuesday evening. The themes vary each week. To ensure an optimal experience, Off the Wall tours are limited to 25 guests. Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check in at the front desk to secure your place on the tour. We suggest you get there early as these tours have been filling up fast. Tours are included in the price of admission. On Tuesdays, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., admission is free for Bexar County residents.
