Consider Becoming a Poll Worker

As members of the League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area, we are likely familiar with our mission of empowering voters and defending democracy. We are out in the community helping people register to vote, learn more about their voting options, such as early voting and how to obtain an absentee ballot by mail, and sharing our helpful resources, such as Vote411.org. Often members ask what more they can do to support our efforts.
Becoming a poll worker is a natural extension of the work we do at LWVSA. As a poll worker, you can continue to support your neighbors in a non-partisan setting while ensuring a safe, fair and free election for all voters. There are three paid positions: presiding election judge, alternate election judge and election clerk.
You can learn more about how to become a poll worker in Bexar County by visiting the Bexar Elections website. If you decide you are ready to apply, you can fill out a simple online form on their website or at Power the Polls. Although August 12th is the official recruitment date, you can apply any day you choose. With our next election coming up on November 4th, training will start soon, so don’t delay. Become a poll worker and an election hero!
