Can We Talk? on August 27

Katie Brown, VP Organization | Published on 7/22/2025

Twice a year, in March and August, League members attend a program and dinner that is coordinated by Can We Talk?, a collaborative of over 65 women’s groups. These sessions offer “an inspiring evening of connection, collaboration, and change.”

The program theme for August is Equal Voices, Powerful Choices: Taking Action for Texas Women. The top issues impacting women in Texas and San Antonio—economic security, healthcare, the wage gap, leadership representation, and more—will be discussed. We will hear from local changemakers, share our voices, and learn how we can make a difference in advancing equity.

The evening’s moderator is Vanessa Martinez, Chair of the Mayor’s Commission on Status of Women of San Antonio.  The panelists are Dr. LuElla D’Amico, UIW Coordinator of Women and Gender Studies; Misty Harty, YWCA Director of Racial Justice and Gender Equity Institute; and Karen Hughes White, CEO of Texas Women’s Foundation.

Plan on joining friends at the League’s table.
