Yuli Chang, a 15 year San Antonio resident, first met volunteers from LWVSA at her naturalization ceremony at the Federal Courthouse. After becoming a citizen she asked to volunteer with the League and signed up to become a Bexar County Volunteer Deputy Registrar to help register fellow citizens to vote.

Yuli contacted the League and offered her coffee shop as a location for a voter outreach event. Yuli advertised the LWVSA voter registration event to her customers. She had one of her independent bakers make cookies iced with a QR code to the Texas Secretary of State website so that people could check their registration status and access and fill out the voter registration form . The QR code actually worked and the cookies were delicious!
Yuli explained that she started selling coffee from a cart and was eventually able to open Curator Coffee at 2823 Thousand Oaks Drive. Now she helps multiple independent bakers by letting them take turns selling baked goods in her store. She wants them to have the opportunity to grow their businesses like she did. Most of the people who visit her shop are loyal customers who visit frequently. Yuli also makes pottery which she sells in her shop.
Our volunteers enjoyed visiting Curator Coffee and providing voter outreach .
