Would you like a free reusable yard sign letting people know about VOTE411.org, our online voters guide? It’s a great way to inform people about how to get nonpartisan election information. Put it out about two weeks before early voting in any election, tuck it away after Election Day, and bring it back out for subsequent elections.
You can also request multiple signs. We will have some on hand at our annual meeting on May 18, and we plan to arrange a pickup site/time for those who can’t attend the meeting. Please let us know if you are interested, and how many signs you want, at league@lwvsa.org or by clicking Here.
Letting people know about VOTE411 is vital to helping voters make informed choices and increasing turnout, especially among young voters. A major reason people in all age groups don’t vote, according to informal surveys, is that they don’t know anything about the candidates. Turnout in all age groups for the primaries this March was just 14.8%. Voting in presidential general elections, which have the largest turnout, hover around just 50%. Knowing about resources like VOTE411 and our printed Voters Guide is key to drawing more voters to let their voices be heard.
