The May 4 election will be here before you know it, and it includes, for the first time, three countywide races for positions on the Bexar Appraisal District board. The November proposition that reduced property tax bills included the requirement to add three elected positions to the five appointed ones in large counties.
The ballot, depending on where you live, will also include elections in many municipalities and school boards. The League doesn’t have information on these races. We made an exception for the Appraisal District because few people are aware this election will be on the ballot. You can go to VOTE411.org to see answers by the candidates to questions on their experience and what they hope to accomplish if elected. Or you can stop by any San Antonio public library to pick up a printed copy with the same information. You can see which races will be on your ballot and a list of Early Voting sites at https://www.bexar.org/1568/Elections-Department. Scroll to “Who Represents Me,” enter your street name and follow the directions. Election Day voting sites will be posted there after Early Voting is over. Please learn about these candidates so you can make informed decisions when you vote! Early voting is April 22-30, and Election Day is May 4.
